“Search Continues for Missing Aircraft to Greenland”

Share

The search for a missing aircraft that was en route from Canada’s East Coast to Greenland has now entered its second day. Naviair, a state-owned Danish aviation service provider, reported receiving information on Saturday around 4 p.m. local time about a single-engine plane that had disappeared. It was later confirmed on Sunday by Naviair that the missing aircraft belongs to an American company and was flying from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, N.L., with one individual on board.

Efforts to locate the missing plane resumed on Sunday via boat due to low-hanging clouds causing a delay in the aerial search. Search operations were halted on Saturday evening because of poor visibility and adverse weather conditions. Search teams are currently focusing their efforts on the Sermitsiaq mountain region, located approximately 15 kilometers northeast of Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

Happy Valley-Goose Bay, situated in central Labrador, is about 850 kilometers northwest of St. John’s, with the Labrador Sea separating Labrador from Greenland.
