Nova Scotia native Baby Nova is set to make a return to Montreal’s Osheaga Music Festival, where she once attended as a fan about ten years ago. This time, she will take the stage as a performer on the main stage, marking a significant milestone in her career.
The indie-pop musician, originally from Halifax and now based in Los Angeles, gained widespread acclaim with the release of her debut album, “Shhugar,” which was longlisted for Canada’s prestigious Polaris Music Prize. Baby Nova was also recognized on Spotify’s Artists to Watch list for 2026 and recently showcased her talent at Rolling Stone Canada’s Future of Music event.
In addition to Osheaga, Baby Nova is scheduled to perform at upcoming music festivals such as Fono Festival in Quebec City and Sommo Festival in P.E.I. Despite her seemingly rapid rise to success, Baby Nova has been honing her craft for nearly two decades, tracing back to an early interest sparked by a talent scouting opportunity related to the TV series “Hannah Montana.”
Reflecting on her journey, Baby Nova shared that the experience at the summer camp for aspiring talents gave her the initial boost of confidence to pursue music. Over the years, she has dedicated herself to songwriting and collaboration, leading to a publishing deal at the age of 17.
Having navigated through various cities in pursuit of her music career, including Montreal, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles, Baby Nova faced financial and mental challenges before a pivotal meeting in Los Angeles turned her fortunes around. Despite facing adversity, she persevered and secured a deal that reaffirmed her commitment to her musical aspirations.
