Victoria Mboko and Felix Auger-Aliassime have resumed their impressive performance at the start of the 2026 tennis season. The duo led Canada to a 3-0 victory over China in the United Cup mixed teams event, securing a win in the Group B round-robin tie.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked No. 5 in the men’s category, defeated Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-4, while Mboko, ranked 18th in the women’s rankings, staged a comeback after losing the first set to defeat Lin Zhu 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. The Canadian pair then teamed up for a 6-1, 6-3 win in the mixed doubles match against Xiaodi You and Rigele Te.
Auger-Aliassime’s recent successes include reaching the semifinals of the U.S. Open, winning the ATP 250 title at the BNP Paribas Fortis European Open in Brussels, and reaching the ATP Finals semifinals in the previous season.
The 25-year-old Montreal native celebrated his first victory of the season since 2021, expressing satisfaction with his performance. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Mboko made significant strides in the past season, climbing from outside the top 300 to break into the top 20 rankings. She claimed victory at the WTA 1000 National Bank Open in Montreal and closed out 2025 with a five-match winning streak to secure the Hong Kong Open title.
Canada is set to face Belgium in their next group stage match in the United Cup on Tuesday, with the tournament scheduled to conclude on January 11th.
