Olympic ice dance champion Guillaume Cizeron has spoken out against his former on-ice partner, Gabriella Papadakis, accusing her of spreading false information about him ahead of the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Games. Cizeron, who now skates with Laurence Fournier Beaudry, believes that Papadakis is orchestrating a smear campaign against him through a book titled “So as Not to Disappear,” set to be released soon.
The duo of Papadakis and Cizeron achieved remarkable success in ice dance, setting records and winning multiple championships before parting ways in December 2024. Papadakis, in her book, disclosed details of what she described as an imbalanced relationship with Cizeron, portraying him as controlling and demanding. These revelations have surfaced just weeks before the start of the Winter Olympics, prompting Cizeron to question the timing and motives behind the allegations.
Cizeron has vehemently denied the accusations, expressing confusion and disagreement with the negative portrayal of him in the book. He emphasized that the content contains false information and misattributions, which he finds serious and damaging to his reputation. The skater has taken legal action to halt the spread of defamatory statements about him.
Meanwhile, Papadakis also shared personal struggles from her past, including experiences of sexual assault and abortion, shedding light on the emotional challenges she faced during her teenage years. Despite the recent turmoil, Cizeron highlighted his respect for Papadakis and their history of successful collaboration both on and off the ice. He acknowledged the gradual changes in their relationship but emphasized moments of shared achievements and support.
Currently, Cizeron and Fournier Beaudry are gearing up for the Winter Games after securing victories at the Grand Prix de France and the Finlandia Trophy. Fournier Beaudry, who previously represented Canada, obtained French citizenship, enabling the pair to compete together at the Olympics as strong contenders in the ice dance category.
