An undercover operation conducted by London authorities resulted in the apprehension and charging of eight local individuals for allegedly attempting to solicit sexual services from a minor. The investigation, which spanned two days last month on an undisclosed online platform, revealed that seven London residents and one Woodstock resident sought such services from an undercover officer posing as a minor.
According to the police, the suspects were fully aware that they were engaging with someone believed to be under 18 years old. The individuals, aged between 22 and 34, are facing charges of communicating with the intent of obtaining sexual services from a minor. The inquiry was spearheaded by the human trafficking unit of the London Police Department, with support from the Ontario Provincial Police.
Authorities emphasized the collaborative nature of their efforts in combating crime, citing the importance of working with other law enforcement agencies and partner organizations to strengthen investigations. The accused have been released from custody, with court appearances scheduled in London from November 27 to December 11.
