A man from Regina had his third court appearance on Thursday related to the fatal shooting of a woman on a Saskatchewan highway in September. Chris Fahlman, aged 42, faced charges of manslaughter and three other weapons offenses for the incident that took the life of Tanya Myers, 44, who was shot while being a passenger in a vehicle on Highway 39 near Weyburn on September 12.
During the virtual court appearance on Thursday, Fahlman did not enter a plea or have a bail hearing as his defense lawyer, Sharon Fox, requested more time for preparation. Fox mentioned receiving limited information that raised more questions than answers, stating they were not ready to proceed at that time.
The next court date for Fahlman is set for Friday afternoon in Regina provincial court, with plans to arrange a bail hearing for the following week. The courtroom was packed during Thursday’s hearing, with attendees traveling from Weyburn to Regina, including friends and family of Myers, seeking further insights into the shooting incident.
Andrea Morrice, a friend of Myers who was driving the SUV during the shooting, expressed disappointment over the repeated delays of Fahlman’s bail hearing. Morrice and Myers were on their way back to Weyburn from Regina when the tragic event occurred, making the journey to Regina challenging for Morrice now. She emphasized the importance of understanding the circumstances of that night and expressed her desire for clarity on whether the shooting was accidental.
Morrice stated her intention to attend Fahlman’s bail hearing at a later date but mentioned not being able to make it on Friday.
