The Canadian women’s national soccer team is set to compete against Brazil, South Korea, and Zambia in April as part of the FIFA Series, which has been expanded to include 48 men’s and women’s teams by 2026.

The 2026 Series builds upon a pilot project conducted in 2024, where 24 teams played in five different locations across three continents. The upcoming edition will feature 36 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams, divided into 12 groups of four.

Canada, currently ranked 10th, will be grouped alongside Brazil (6th), South Korea (21st), and Zambia (64th), with Brazil hosting the matches. These games will be the only Series matches for the Canadian team.

Coach Casey Stoney expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming matches, emphasizing the opportunity to compete against high-quality opponents with different playing styles. Stoney highlighted the significance of playing in a country with a strong football culture to elevate the team’s performance and gain valuable experiences for future endeavors.

The Canadian women have a competitive history against Brazil, holding an 11-11-10 record with notable victories, including penalty shootout wins. They have a favorable record of 9-1-1 against South Korea, with a dominant 5-1 win in their previous encounter. In contrast, Canada has never faced Zambia in a competitive match.

The FIFA Series aims to provide national teams with opportunities for cross-confederation competition without adding to the international match calendar, fostering technical growth and global exchange. In addition to Brazil, the Ivory Coast, Thailand, Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, and Uzbekistan will host various women’s and men’s groups during the tournament.

Although the full schedule is yet to be unveiled, the games are scheduled to take place during international match windows in March and April. The men’s competition will feature teams that have qualified for the World Cup, including Australia, Uzbekistan, Cabo Verde, Curacao, and New Zealand.

Canada’s 2026 campaign will kick off at the SheBelieves Cup, where they will compete against Colombia, the United States, and Argentina in March. The Canadian women concluded 2025 with a five-game losing streak and a goal drought lasting 454 minutes.
