Céline Dion Makes Musical Comeback with Romantic French Ballad

Céline Dion unveiled a fresh single on Friday, marking her return to the music scene. The new release, a gentle and romantic French ballad titled “Dansons” which translates to “Let’s dance” in English, is accompanied by a music video that exudes romance. The video showcases affectionate moments in Paris with different couples dancing freely in public spaces.

This single release comes ahead of Dion’s upcoming series of 16 performances at the Paris La Défense Arena from September 12 to October 17. Fans had been speculating about her comeback after mysterious hints appeared around Paris featuring lyrics from her popular songs like “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love.”

Having faced health issues that led to the cancellation of her previous world tour, Dion has been absent from the stage. “Dansons,” written by renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, is her first French release in over a decade and her first original song in years. Her most recent musical contribution was in 2023 on the soundtrack for the film “Love Again.”

Dion and Goldman have a history of successful collaborations, having worked together on projects such as Dion’s “Encore un soir” in 2016 and her 1995 album “D’eux,” which remains the best-selling French-language album of all time.

In 2023, Dion had to halt her Courage world tour after disclosing her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects a very small percentage of the population. The tour had already been postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dion made a public singing comeback in July 2024, performing Edith Piaf’s “Hymn to Love” during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, and later that year at a fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, celebrating the career of designer Elie Saab.
