“Da Vinci-inspired Cauldrons to Shine at Winter Games”

Share

Two cauldrons dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci will be featured at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games, a first in Olympic and Paralympic history. The design of the cauldrons, inspired by Leonardo’s intricate knot patterns, resembles a sun-like structure. These cauldrons, which can open and close, will hold the Olympic flame within a glass and metal container, with a diameter ranging from 3.1 to 4.5 meters.

Located at the Arco della Pace in Milan and Piazza Dibona in Cortina, the cauldrons will be simultaneously lit during the grand opening ceremony on February 6 and extinguished on February 22, followed by the burning of the Paralympic flame from March 6 to 15. Additionally, a special three to five-minute show will be presented hourly in the evenings at the Milan cauldron throughout the Olympics.
