Expectant parents in western P.E.I. are advised to contact Prince County Hospital in Summerside before heading there for childbirth next week. Health P.E.I. announced that upgrades to the hospital’s operating room are scheduled for November 10 and 11. No planned or urgent surgeries will take place during this period, while emergency surgeries will be evaluated case by case. Parents-to-be in Prince County are urged to call the hospital’s maternal child-care unit at 902-438-4490 from the evening of November 9 to the end of November 11 for guidance on pregnancy care needs. In case of a medical emergency, individuals should dial 911 or visit the nearest hospital emergency department. The upgrades at Prince County Hospital are focused on enhancing the heating, ventilation, and cooling systems. If necessary, parents-to-be may be directed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, approximately 60 kilometers away.
