Share

Residents in Gatineau, Quebec, are gearing up for election day this Sunday. The municipal election will see voters in the city and various communities in the province heading to polling stations. The incumbent mayor, Maude Marquis-Bissonnette, who took office after a mayoral byelection in June 2024, is facing off against Mario Aubé from Team Mario Aubé and independent candidate Remi Bergeron.

In addition to selecting the next mayor, voters will also elect 19 municipal councillors. Marquis-Bissonnette, representing the Action Gatineau party, has emphasized the importance of public transit development, while Aubé has focused on financial responsibility. Bergeron, making his fourth bid for the mayoral position, has highlighted the need to address homelessness, particularly as winter approaches.

Polling stations across Quebec municipalities will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
