Microsoft Azure users may encounter difficulties accessing services like Office 365, Minecraft, and others due to issues with the cloud service, as announced by the tech giant on Wednesday. A notification on the Azure status page confirms that Microsoft’s teams are actively investigating problems with the Azure Front Door service, with the expectation of seeing initial signs of improvement shortly.
While Microsoft has not yet provided a formal comment, the company has acknowledged the situation on its website and social media channels. Given the widespread usage of Microsoft’s cloud service by numerous sites and services, any disruptions like this can have extensive impacts. Users have reported experiencing problems with various services such as Office 365, Minecraft, X-Box Live, Costco, Starbucks mobile apps and websites, and Copilot, among others, on Downdetector, a platform that monitors online outages.
These issues with Microsoft Azure follow closely after a significant outage of Amazon’s cloud computing service, which affected a broad array of online services spanning social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming, and financial platforms. Notably, the problems arose just hours before Microsoft’s scheduled release of its quarterly earnings report.
Amazon currently leads as the primary provider of cloud computing services, with Microsoft holding the second position, surpassing Google, in most markets.
