The NHL’s disciplinary committee has handed down one-game suspensions to Calgary Flames forward John Beecher and Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley following separate roughing incidents.
Beecher engaged in a scuffle with Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron, delivering a punch while McCarron was being held back by two linesmen during the first period of Calgary’s recent 4-3 defeat. This altercation occurred after McCarron initiated a physical confrontation near the Flames’ bench. Beecher, aged 24, was penalized with a roughing minor and a 10-minute misconduct. He later exited the game due to an injury sustained during a fight with Nashville’s Nic Hague in the second period.
In a separate incident, Stanley threw a bare-knuckle punch at Ottawa Senators’ Brady Tkachuk during Winnipeg’s 4-2 loss, catching Tkachuk unprepared. This action led to Stanley receiving a roughing minor and an illegal equipment minor penalty, while Tkachuk was handed a 10-minute misconduct for his reaction to the blow.
Both Beecher and Stanley, with 155 and 242 NHL games respectively, had not faced any suspensions or fines in their professional careers prior to these incidents.
