Olympic Snowboarder Berenice Wicki to Miss Milan-Cortina Games

Olympic snowboarder Berenice Wicki will be absent from the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Games due to a re-injury of her left knee’s anterior cruciate ligament, as announced by the Swiss team on Wednesday. Wicki, aged 23, had finished seventh in the snowboard halfpipe event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, which was won by US athlete Chloe Kim. Wicki suffered the injury during a training session at Secret Garden in China last week and subsequently underwent medical examinations upon her return to Switzerland. The tests confirmed a recurrent torn ACL in her left knee, necessitating season-ending surgery scheduled for next week, as per the Swiss ski federation. Wicki had initially injured her knee in February, causing her to miss out on the freestyle skiing world championships held the following month in Switzerland.
