Rookie Sarah Wozniewicz made a game-winning goal with just over a minute left in overtime to lead the Ottawa Charge to a 3-2 victory against the reigning champions, the Minnesota Frost, in a PWHL Takeover Tour match held at Allstate Arena. Peyton Hemp assisted Wozniewicz in scoring the decisive goal at 3:55 of the 5-minute OT period.
Ottawa took the lead 1-0 in the first period with a power-play goal by Ronja Savolainen, assisted by Kateřina Mrázová and Jocelyne Larocque. The Frost managed to equalize in the second period with Britta Curl-Salemme’s second goal, assisted by Kelly Pannek and Mae Batherson.
Brianne Jenner extended Ottawa’s lead to 2-1 with a late goal in the second period, with Rory Guilday and Rebecca Leslie providing the assists. Batherson then scored her first career goal early in the final period to tie the game at 2-2, with assists from Pannek and Kendall Cooper.
Gwyneth Philips made 21 saves for Ottawa, including one in overtime, while Nicole Hensley made 19 saves for the Frost, with three saves in the extra period.
