“Testimony Reveals Traumatic Abuse in Humby Trial”

A man testified in court against Tony Humby, accusing him of repeated sexual abuse. The man, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, expressed frustration with defense lawyer Mark Gruchy’s language during cross-examination. Gruchy repeatedly used the term “having sex” to describe the alleged abuse, to which the man vehemently objected, stating he was being molested and raped.

The man, testifying virtually from jail, recalled the traumatic incidents and expressed how they had deeply affected his sense of self and dignity. Despite challenges and objections from the prosecutor, Gruchy persisted with his line of questioning, emphasizing the importance of clarity in the man’s testimony.

The man, visibly distressed, declined breaks and urged to conclude his testimony swiftly, highlighting the emotional toll of recounting the abuse. He detailed how he first met Humby at a young age and was subsequently assaulted after being lured with substances and cash. The man described Humby’s manipulative behavior and the subsequent escalation of abuse.

During cross-examination, the man admitted discussing seeking revenge on Humby with another complainant but ultimately chose to report the abuse to the police. He also acknowledged his criminal history, attributing it in part to the trauma of the alleged abuse.

Gruchy completed his cross-examination before lunch, with four more complainants scheduled to testify. Humby faces 72 charges related to the reported abuse of 11 youth complainants, with the trial set to continue in November.
