Moh Ahmed, a seasoned track athlete for almost two decades, has always been fascinated by the camaraderie in cross-country running. During his junior year at the University of Wisconsin, at 19 years old, Ahmed played a pivotal role in helping the Badgers clinch the 2011 NCAA championship, earning All-American honors four times.
Reflecting on his career, Ahmed values the NCAA title as a pinnacle achievement. In 2021, at age 35, Ahmed made history by becoming Canada’s first Olympic 5,000-meter medalist, securing a silver in Tokyo. He also boasts a track record as a five-time NCAA All-American and clinching the Big Ten outdoor conference title in 2010 and 2012.
Inducted into the University of Wisconsin Hall of Fame in September last year, Ahmed is now gearing up for the World Athletics Cross-Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. Leading Team Canada in the men’s senior 10-kilometer race, Ahmed will be joined by a talented lineup including Xavier Perras-Phaneuf, Santiago Gaitan, Matt Talbot, Evan Burke, and Philippe Morneau-Cartier.
At the recent national championships in London, Ahmed secured his first grass event title in the open men’s 10K.
