“Countdown Begins: CBC to Air Extensive Coverage of 2026 Winter Paralympic Games”

The upcoming 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan-Cortina are just 100 days away, and Canadians will have extensive coverage available to them. CBC/Radio-Canada, known as Canada’s Paralympic Network, revealed plans for around-the-clock coverage, including over 120 original hours of broadcast coverage and an additional 800 hours of live streaming across various platforms. This coverage will be accessible in both English on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service, and in French on ICI TÉLÉ and ICI TOU.TV.

Taking place in Northern Italy from March 6 to March 15, these Games will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Winter Paralympics, signifying a significant milestone in the Paralympic movement. With approximately 600 athletes from different nations participating in 79 events across six sports, including Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard, and wheelchair curling.

The Canadian athletes set to represent the country will be announced between November and February. Marie-Philippe Bouchard, the president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada, expressed excitement about supporting these athletes and extending coverage of the Paralympics on TV and digital platforms. The coverage will feature closed captioning, described video, and ASL to ensure all Canadians can partake in celebrating the achievements of the Paralympians.

CBC and CBC Gem will provide three daily live shows, including “Petro-Canada Paralympic Games Today,” hosted by Anastasia Bucsis, “Paralympic Winter Games Primetime” with three-time Paralympic medallist Stef Reid, and “Paralympic Winter Games Late Night,” also hosted by Stef Reid. Additionally, special contributors such as Paralympic bronze medallist sprinter Marissa Papaconstantinou and Paralympic silver medallist cyclist Nathan Clement will join the broadcast team.

The coverage will include play-by-play and analysis for various sports, with a team of reporters on-site to keep viewers updated throughout the Games. Radio-Canada will also offer comprehensive coverage, including live events and highlights on ICI TÉLÉ and ICI TOU.TV.

Furthermore, CBC/Radio-Canada will deliver over 800 hours of live streaming content on CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV, with dedicated digital hosts and contributors. The Milano Cortina 2026 websites will serve as a hub for event schedules, results, athlete profiles, and daily updates. Fans can also follow the action on social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.

To complement the coverage, the launch of the Where It Begins campaign by the Canadian Olympic Committee and CBC/Radio-Canada will highlight Para athletes’ inspiring journeys from local communities to the global stage.
