In a recent auction, a lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million. This sale marked the highest price ever paid for a prop used in a “Star Wars” film, as reported by the auction house.
Now, another iconic lightsaber is up for grabs. A Darth Vader lightsaber, famously used in the pivotal duel in Cloud City where he delivers the memorable line “I am your father” to Skywalker, will be part of the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction by Heritage Auctions on November 12.
The Vader lightsaber, also seen in “Return of the Jedi,” is anticipated to command a price of at least $1 million. It is among a collection of over two dozen lightsaber props that will be available for bidding at the auction, covering “Star Wars” Episodes I to IX, along with props from other productions within the expansive universe created by George Lucas.
Highlighted items include the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” each expected to sell for a minimum of $10,000.
Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is estimated to fetch over $100,000. The auction will also feature a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in the character’s debut in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ signed personal third-draft screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
