Peel police revealed that the second victim of a collision in Brampton involving a young driver was not discovered until many hours after the incident. The crash took place at Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street W. around 4:20 a.m. According to Peel police Const. Tyler Bell-Morena, the second body was found around 5:30 p.m., more than 12 hours later. Bell-Morena shared that the severity of the damage to the vehicle made it challenging to locate the victim at the scene.

The collision involved a Blue Audi and a Black Honda Civic. Following the initial impact, both vehicles collided with a pole and veered off the road. While three individuals from the Audi sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, a 31-year-old man was found deceased inside the Black Honda Civic. It was later revealed that the driver and passenger of the Honda Civic were not acquaintances but had connected through a rideshare service after a social gathering.

Peel police Const. Amanda Steenson mentioned that there was no immediate sign of a passenger when the deceased driver was removed from the vehicle. After the vehicles were towed to the impound yard, reports emerged of a missing 20-year-old woman whose last known location coincided with the crash site. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of the woman’s remains in the wrecked Honda Civic at the impound yard.

The police enlisted the help of Brampton fire and emergency services to extract the woman’s body from the vehicle wreckage. The tragic incident prompted an appeal for privacy and respect for the grieving families. Two separate reports of the missing woman were filed, one from her family and another from a friend, approximately an hour apart. The 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision faced charges of dangerous driving causing death and failure to comply with demand.

The Major Collision Bureau has assumed control of the investigation into the Brampton crash.
