Canada’s Laurie Blouin secured the gold medal at a Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup event in Aspen, Colorado. The Quebec City native initially held sixth place after her first run but delivered an impressive final run, scoring 81.21 to claim victory. This win marks Blouin’s third career triumph in World Cup slopestyle events and her 14th appearance on the podium. Notably, it is her first victory on the World Cup circuit since March 2022.
Blouin, feeling confident going into the final, emphasized that she aimed to enjoy the event without feeling pressured. She expressed her satisfaction, stating, “I was just here to have fun and not have any pressure, and that’s what I did. I’m pretty much qualified for the Olympics, so I came here to just get the nerve back.”
Japanese snowboarders Mari Fukada and Kokomo Murase clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the women’s competition. In the men’s event, Francis Jobin from Quebec City was the highest-ranking Canadian, finishing in 12th place. The men’s gold was secured by Jake Canter of the United States, with Yiming Su in second and Dane Menzies of New Zealand taking third place.
