A recent car accident in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories has sparked a drug probe and a search for two teenagers. The incident unfolded on Saturday, with RCMP disclosing that a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro was discovered in a roadside ditch along Highway 5 near King Street.
The authorities revealed in a statement on Monday that a 43-year-old male, suspected to be the driver, was ejected from the vehicle and found near the scene with severe injuries. The man was subsequently airlifted to Edmonton for medical care, with law enforcement noting that alcohol may have played a role in the collision.
Reports from witnesses indicated that a 14-year-old boy, believed to have been a passenger in the car, fled on foot following the crash, according to RCMP. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement teams to locate the youth, his current whereabouts remain unknown.
Responding in writing to CBC News, RCMP mentioned conducting searches in areas frequented by the vehicle’s driver. One such search led officers to a residence on Whooping Crane Drive, where they discovered a 16-year-old male from Ontario in possession of 384 grams of suspected cocaine, $6,095 in cash, four mobile phones, and drug-related items.
The Ontario teenager was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a controlled substance for trafficking purposes. Following his release from custody, he is now reported missing in Toronto. RCMP provided details that the 14-year-old boy was last spotted near Kaeser’s Stores on November 1, dressed in a black hoodie and black track pants with a red stripe. Described as five-foot-five with sandy blond hair and a potential mark near his left eye, authorities expressed concerns about his well-being due to possible medical needs.
